Students will talk about the challenge of creating a self-portrait, what features of themselves they love and highlighted in their piece, and ways they can con- tinue, or start to, love themselves more. Next, students will give themselves a final mark out of 16 based on their self-portrait and self-reflection questions. The classroom poll is a form of formative assessment. It is up to the teacher's discretion if they change the mark the student gave themselves. Students will give themselves a final mark out of 16. 12 marks will be allocated to their physical self-portrait and 4 marks to the self-reflec- tion questions. TAKE STUDENT LEARNING FURTHER Activity: Self-Care Challenge For students who are showing a keen interest in the topics of self-love, growth-mindset and self-discovery, students may create a self-care challenge. Using a weekly or monthly calendar, students will plan a way they are going to care for themselves every day. For example, if doing a week-long self-care challenge: •Monday - Bubble bath •Tuesday - Read a book •Wednesday - Cook my favourite meal for supper •Thursday - Go on a nature walk •Friday - Meditate for 30 minutes •Saturday - Take a 30 minute nap •Sunday - Make my favourite banana bread Students can then self-reflect after the week or month is done. They could highlight the challenges and benefits they experienced, if they did a self-care activity every day, and what self- care techniques they want to continue in the future.
