Lesson Two: Raven Beardy 76 ASSESS: The paper airplane class discussion is a form of formative assessment. Teachers will be able to check students' prior knowledge about what a strong womxn role model is and looks like. Teach- ers can assess group learning and student communication skills. The debriefing questions after Raven's interview with Fireside Chats is a form of formative assessment. Teachers will be able to check what students took away from Raven's video and make connections to the other parts of the lesson. The Positive Indigenous Womxn Role Model Research Project is a summative assessment. Students will be assessed through a research project assessment rubric and be provided with teacher feedback. Students will be assessed by their content, organization, creativity, use of images, and spelling/grammar. Students will be given a mark out of 15 and be provided with teacher feedback. TAKE STUDENT LEARNING FURTHER Activity: (Indigenous) Womxn Role Model Interview For students who are showing a keen interest in the topic of Indigenous womxn role models and leadership, have students complete an interview with a womxn they find inspiring. The womxn could be Indigenous or non-Indigenous. Students can come up with questions individually or as a group that they would ask during their interviews. Students can present the information learned in the interview through an oral presentation, poster, video, or multimedia presentation.
