Lesson One: Joy Hall 38 INTRODUCTION: For this project, you will be making a brochure highlighting the research you conduct on where our food comes from. You will research where three fruits and three vegetables are grown in your own province, and research where three other foods are grown in the world. You will then research three of your own questions. Information to be Included: •Front Page/Cover (1 mark) *Create a Title *Image/Photo *Your name, date, class •What types of food grow in my own province? *State what province you live in. *Find five examples of dierent fruits that are grown in your province. » Where are the fruits grown? (5 marks) » How are the fruits grown? (5 marks) *Find five examples of dierent vegetables that are grown in your province. » Where are the vegetables grown? (5 marks) » How are the vegetables grown? (5 marks) •Where are the foods I am eating coming from, if they are not from my province? *List three foods you like to eat that do not grow in your province. Example: Mangos, Avocadoes, Bananas (3 marks) *Where do these three foods grow? (3 marks) *How are these foods grown? (3 marks) •What other questions do you have? *List three other questions that you have (Questions can be about the environmental impact of farming, sustainable farming practices, the history of farming in your area, traditional Indigenous farming methods, traditional Indigenous diets, etc…) *Answer your three questions (10 marks) Marking Scheme: 40 marks – Information in the brochure (see information to be included above) 20 marks – The brochure organization and design (see Marking Rubric below) = 60 marks Where is Our Food From?
