Lesson Three: James Harper 124 ASSESS: The class discussions are a form of formative assessment. Teachers will be able to check stu- dents' prior knowledge about what careers they think relate to Mother Earth, how some jobs can negatively impact Earth, and how some jobs can positively impact Earth. Teachers can assess group learning and student communication skills. The debriefing questions after James' interview with Fireside Chats is a form of formative assess- ment. Teachers will be able to check what students took away from James' video and make connections to the other parts of the lesson. The Community Mapping Project is a summative assessment. Students will be assessed through peer assessment and teacher feedback. For their maps, teachers may use their own rubrics or assessment tools. TAKE STUDENT LEARNING FURTHER Activity: Clean Energy and Sustainability Awareness Campaign Project If students show a keen interest in learning more about what clean energy is and how they can lead more sustainable lives; students can create a Clean Energy and Sustainability Awareness campaign. Students would research dierent ways clean energy positively impacts our society and environment.
