Lesson Two: Pihêsiw Crane 116 Healthy Self, Healthy Relationships Analysis Overview: Through this assignment, you are going to analyze yourself in terms of holistic health, includ- ing a balanced lifestyle then analyze a significant relationships to see if it is are healthy, unhealthy, or toxic. For yourself, you will use the Medicine Wheel's four aspects of being to analyze how you are keeping your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves healthy. The four parts of the self - according to Anishinaabe (and other Indigenous nations)- are physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The physical part of ourselves refers to our physical bodies. Our emotional part of ourselves refers to our emotions, feelings and relationships. The mental part of ourselves refers to our intellect and mental health. The spiritual part of ourselves refers to our spirituality, religion (if applicable) and soul. All these parts are interconnected. We need to make sure that each part is healthy so that we are in balance. For example, sometimes when someone is so emotional and crying you may get a stomach-ache or a headache. This shows our emotional being is connected to our physical being. Next, you will choose one significant relationship in your life. You will answer a few self-re- flection questions to examine how healthy your relationship currently is. And what you can do to make sure it is, or stays, healthy. Healthy relationships involve respect, communication, kindness, and trust. Relationships can all look dierent, but healthy relationships have a few things in common such as: open communication, mutual respect, healthy conflict resolution skills and clear, healthy boundaries. You will explore how these concepts align with your own relationships. Relationships, whether platonic or romantic, are very important parts of every- day life. You are going to meet hundreds of people in your lifetime. You will need to know how to keep your relationships stable and healthy! Name: Date:
