Lesson One: Monique (Mo) Aura Bedard 140 Hand out the "Art Therapy Activities Menu" sheet to students, which explains the activities and their intended purpose. Review together as a class. Allow students time to work on their art activities. ASSESS: The Think/Pair/Share activity a form of formative assessment. Teachers will be able to check students' prior knowledge about coping strategies and correct any misconceptions students may have about the topic as students share their answers with their partners and the class. The debriefing questions after Monique's interview is a form of formative assessment. Teachers will be able to check what students took away from Monique's video and make connections to the other parts of the lesson. The Art Therapy Activity is a form of summative assessment. How students are assessed (if at all) is up to the teacher's discretion. Teachers are encouraged to meet with students one-on-one to have students explain the meaning of their pieces. If teachers notice any concerning behaviour - such as students art pieces displaying signs of depression or another mental health concern – teachers should talk with students about their feelings, refer students to the school counsellor and periodically check in with students, oering additional mental health resources as necessary.
