Lesson Two: Dakota Bear 135 MENTAL WELLBEING STRESS KITS Name: _____________________ Introduction: Our mental well-being is very important to take care of. Our mental and emotional health impacts us in every way. Stress is something that can negatively impact our mental wellbeing. Understanding your own experiences and learning healthy ways to cope with stress is important. We all need to learn how to recognize when stress is aecting us and ways to prop- erly manage the stress. Stress kits are an amazing way to develop and apply coping strategies to manage our stress so we can feel balanced. Stress Kits Instructions: For this activity, you will create a stress kit that you can use for whenever you're feeling overwhelmed, down, sad, angry, or need to feel grounded. Everyone will have dierent ways they cope with stress. There are many things we can do to help us feel balanced again! You will use a small box or shoebox as your stress kit. Decorate your box as you please. You want it to make you feel happy, calm, or grounded when you see it. You will choose six things to include in your stress kit. You will need to make four of the items in your stress kit. The other two things can be items you have from home. There are so many things you can choose from, have fun and be creative! Examples of Items you can make: (These are just ideas! You may come up with other objects): •Stress Ball •Play dough (lavender or vanilla scented) •Calm Down Jar •Crocheted blanket •Kaleidoscope •Relaxation prompt cards •Soothing sounds CD •Letter to self •Handwritten poem •Positive Armations List •Photo album or scrapbook of loved ones ITEMS/OBJECTS IN YOUR KIT: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
