Lesson Two: Pihêsiw Crane 118 Relationship Analysis Are your relationships healthy, unhealthy, or toxic? Healthy relationships involve boundaries, communication, resolving conflict and respect. All relationships exist on a spectrum, from healthy to toxic to somewhere in between. Choose one significant relationship in your life that you would like to analyze. Then using the Medicine Wheel Aspects of Being, write two strategies in each quadrant describing how you will work towards developing or keeping that relationship healthy. You will examine the relationship of your choice in terms of: 1. How well do we communicate? Communication is a key part of building and keeping a healthy relationship. The first step in communication is making sure both people want and expect the same things out of the relation- ship. Even in friendship we need to communicate! 2. How well do we resolve conflict? What strategies do we use to resolve conflict? Resolving conflict in a relationship can be tough. Fighting, arguing and hitting are not healthy ways to come to a healthy conclusion to a conflict. To resolve conflict both parties need commu- nication, listening skills, clear boundaries, and mutual respect. 3. Are the boundaries in our relationship clear? Healthy? All healthy relationships require space. Creating clear, healthy boundaries is a great way to keep up your relationship. An example of a boundary is "I will take some space to myself at times" 4. Do I respect this person? Do they respect me? In what ways do we show that we respect each other? What does respect look like in our relationship? Persons Name/Alias: Relationship Type: (You can put a fake name/alias for this person if that makes you more comfortable 1. How well do we communicate? 2. How well do we resolve conflict? What strategies do we use to resolve conflict?
