Tania Bodika, Quebec ARTS & CULTURE Cultur'Elles Fest: Back to Your Childhood Who doesn't love a day to celebrate joy, connection and creativity? That was exactly the thought that started Cultur'Elles Fest: Back to Your Childhood. Tania and her team dreamt of creating a space where women of colour can shine, families can connect, and everyone is invited to learn and discover more about themselves. Their one-day cultural festival brought together performances, workshops and interactive experiences. They shared the love through music, fitness sessions, dance instructions and a market featuring the works of women entrepreneurs. About 300 people attended the event celebrating the rich culture of the local community. Uniquely, they featured a calm zone for attendees to rest and unwind, confirming the need for neurodivergent-inclusive spaces at events. Tania and her team are looking to expand their initiative to increase visibility, representation, and access for underrepresented folks to cultural spaces. They will also create video content that highlights the beauty of community and the richness of Montreal's diversity. Participating in the Sprout Ideas Fellowship provided valuable resources and guidance on funding opportunities. It helped me understand how to identify and access new sources of funding, making our project more financially sustainable and giving me the confidence to pursue larger-scale initiatives in the future.
