Amazing Adaptations Royal BC Museum Explore the fascinating world of animal adaptations in this program at the Royal BC Museum. Students will learn how BC animals survive and thrive in their environments through hands-on activities in the natural history gallery. The session includes an introduction, a visit to the Forest Diorama, observation practice, and a behind-the-scenes look at taxidermied animals, bones, furs, and models. 61 C O N N E C T E D N O R T H 2 0 2 4 - 2 0 2 5 S E S S I O N M E N U Perimeter Institute develops resources for educators that are curriculum-linked, have hands-on activities for students, and editable files and worksheets. In this workshop we will explore some simple hand-on activities to introduce heat and heat transfer by convection, conduction, radiation, and evaporation. Students will apply their learning in the context of infant-care, winter lodging, campfires, animals, and clothing. Heat Transfer Perimeter Institute Students will explore renewable energy, focusing on solar power, through live experiments and an interactive presentation. They'll receive six solar car kits to design and build their own solar cars in small groups. The workshop also includes pre/post activities and integrates information about how remote and First Nation communities use renewable energy, along with artistic and cultural elements. The entire workshop takes about two hours, split into two parts. Plug in the Sun Relay Education The Royal BC Museum also offers Dinosaurs! Adaptations and Habitats, Investigating Insects, and more. The Manitoba Museum also offers All About Balloons, Spectacular Substances, and more. Exploring the Solar System The Manitoba Museum Discover your place in space! Explore the planets of our solar system, as well as moons, asteroids, and comets, and learn about how we explore them using technology and in- person. Go from our backyard view of a "flat earth" through the earth-centered and then sun-centered solar system, model moon phases, and discover the technology we use to understand other planets and what that data teaches us about our own planet.
