Felt Ookpik Bambi Amos Join Bambi from Inuvik in an engaging and hands-on hand-sewing session, where she enthusiastically shares her deep passion for traditional arts and crafts. With patience and skill, Bambi will expertly guide students through the process of creating their very own hand-sewn Ookpik (owl). Along the way, participants will not only learn the intricate art of hand sewing but also gain valuable insight into Bambi's inspiring journey as an Indigenous artist. Don't miss this meaningful opportunity to connect with both culture and creativity. Painting Ojibwe Florals Dawn Chartrand Dawn Marie Chartrand is a visual artist, musical entertainer, and yoga instructor. She is a member of Rolling River First Nation in Manitoba. Dawn started painting in 2017 and was immediately drawn to creating Indigenous themed art. Dawn considers painting a special form of wellness and self-care, and she has sold many of her paintings throughout Canada. Dawn offers painting and wellness workshops as a means of introducing others to the healing properties of creating art. In this session, students will be guided to paint an Ojibwe floral design with acrylic paint. Darci Everson also offers a Fully Beaded Poppy session, a Pride pin, a Heart Berry pin, and more. April is an Inuit artist spending most of her time creating beadwork. She creates a wide variety of beaded earrings and is exceptionally passionate about her work, deeply valuing the meticulous detail she can achieve with every stitch. For April, the art of beading is not only a creative outlet but also a therapeutic practice. In this session, April will guide students step-by-step through the process of making beaded sealskin earrings. Additionally, she will share her personal journey as an artist and discuss her various projects throughout these sessions. Sealskin Beaded Earrings April Allen Visual Arts 32 Darci, originally from Lac Seul First Nation in Ontario, is currently residing in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She has been passionately beading for over 20 years, a skill she began developing as a young adult during her journey to sobriety. In this session, students will not only learn about the deep cultural significance of Remembrance Day, but Darci will also personally guide them through a hands-on felted beading activity.
