All in the Details: A Writing Workshop Marty Chan Marty helps students learn the value of descriptive writing. He illustrates how vivid and memorable details can create the right picture in the reader's mind, and in a personal anecdote, he reveals what can go wrong if you don't give enough details. Marty emphasizes the importance of the sensory details and underscores how writers need to consider what their audience/reader knows and expects. Join author Jill Featherstone to explore her novel, The Tale of Tiger Lily. The book, available for classroom shipment, follows the poignant journey of Tiger Lily, a noble young woman from the Piccaninny Tribe, who faces heartbreak and challenges after falling into forbidden love and being captured by Captain Hook. Jill will share insights into her writing process and engage in discussions about the book's themes and characters. The Tale of Tiger Lily - Author Talk Jill Featherstone Hi My name is SJ Okemow and I'm a Nehiyaw and Eastern European Artist and Author. I wrote the children's book "mî Osâwâpikones" which translates to "Dear Dandelion" in Nehiyawewin. I am a beginner Cree language learner and thought making a storybook would be a fun way to learn the language. So come read along the story with me and we will chat about some of my favourite things about the dandelion. Lastly we will make our very own flower crowns.
