CONTENT DELIVERED AND CURRICULUM LINKS Although Connected North initially started with a focus on delivering content related to science, it has expanded to cover every aspect of the curriculum and interests of the students and teachers. We connect sessions to curriculum expectations on the digital platform - making it easy for teachers to include Connected North into lesson planning. This school year, our most booked subject was Visual Arts, followed by Science and Environmental Studies. We are grateful to our partners who enable us to offer a broad and meaningful curriculum across a range of subjects: RBC Foundation (Future Pathways), CIBC Foundation (STEM), Scotiabank (Financial Literacy), Graham Burton Foundation (Arts), and Amazon Future Engineer (Coding) and many other organizations, foundations and individuals who support content and regional delivery. STORIES OF ENGAGEMENT Each Connected North session is delivered by a content provider, or ʻexpert,ʼ whose job it is to inform, inspire and engage the students and teachers. This school year there were 544 unique experts available to be booked for sessions, with 45% identifying as Indigenous. Some providers deliver a variety of sessions on different topics, and some providers are booked hundreds of times a year. Overall there are more than 2,400 unique sessions classrooms can choose from. Here are a few stories from the over 6,200 sessions delivered this school year. Connected North was thrilled to support the youth from Igloolik as they travelled with the 2024 Nunavut Quest Dog Sled Race from April 15th - 23rd, 2024. The youth reporters connected live from the land reporting to other schools, sharing their experience. Prior to their departure, Igloolik youth had the opportunity to attend Connected North sessions with Globe and Mail Indigenous journalist Willow Fiddler to develop their journalism, reporting, and photography skills. 7
