Parke Trann The Connected Classroom When Connected North first came to our school, many teachers had already started to blend technology in their classroom practice. LMS such as Edmodo and Moodle were being utilized; smartboards created an interactive experience and laptops and iPads were becoming tools teachers and students used daily. However, we were still missing the ability to share and explore things in a global context that also reflected the students Indigenous identities. Grand Rapids School Grand Rapids, Manitoba My name is Parke Trann. I have been a teacher for 25 years in Grand Rapids, Manitoba. The community is the gateway to the Northeast of Manitoba. Grand Rapids has two main industries, Manitoba Hydro and commercial fishing. In the past decade, the community has made a significant step forward in becoming a 21st century community in infrastructure, technology, and innovations in education in partnership with Frontier School Division. Introduction As an educator, I have been active in leadership, instruction, and implementation of new pedagogy and technologies in the school. Along with resources such as Connected North, our school has worked hard to incorporate Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support student learning. Further, using innovative and blended pedagogy has been a driving factor in my classroom to help students grow as learners and see themselves as part of the global community of learners and leaders.
