Pre-Session Preparation
Discuss respect and the value of the session with students beforehand.
Emphasize appreciation for the time and effort the providers put in.
Familiarize yourself with the session content and try activities in advance.
Speak to the coordinator or session provider ahead of time to learn more
about what you need to prepare.
Confirm the time and gather any necessary materials (e.g., When we did
squid dissections with Connected North, I prepared scissors, garbage bags,
gloves, and face masks for students who would not be comfortable working
with formaldehyde).
Prepare the space and area
necessary for your Session (e.g.,
When other teachers prepared for
the lessons, they had to clear the
desks and place chairs in a circle or
clear the space in preparation for
more active sessions).
