25 TA K I N G I TG L O B A L | A N N U A L R E P O RT 2 019 Exploring global issues through global youth connections In 2019, the Centre for Global Education hosted just over 4,025 participants from Kindergarten to Grade 12, in over 43 Global Encounters & 9 National/ Global Dialogues. We offered sessions in English and French for children and youth to engage in deep, project-based learning. Additionally, our virtual classrooms and global gallery hosted collaborative workspaces for asynchronous learning from students in over 40 nations, across the Global North and Global South including across the Global North and Global South (alphabetical): Angola, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czechia, Estonia, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Tanzania, Trinidad, Turkey, Ukraine, UK, & USA. " I think the most impactful and significant experience for me was at the discussion moments between us about our project. It was significant for me to see children like me who really care about what I care about and see that they are not just for fun but to try to make a difference, to see that I'm not alone, and to identify myself with these people."
