During this session, students will be introduced to the elements used in Coast Salish art through demonstration. Students will be guided through the creation process with Ovi and use a custom design to create a Coast Salish Design of the class' choice. Animals can include: Wolf, Eagle, Orca, Salmon, Frog. G A LLERY WA LK A ND GROUP OF SE V EN with McMichael Art Gallery 2020 marks the 100 th anniversary of the Group of Seven. Throughout the year, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection will offer special opportunities to engage with some of the iconic Group of Seven works on view in a virtual gallery tour. This guided viewing will encourage students to discuss the importance of an artist's personal style, stylistic development and choice of subject matter. Students will create an artwork inspired by the paintings on view in the gallery as part of their personal response to the artworks. C A N A DA A ND THE IDE A S OF THE L A ND with Art Gallery of Ontario Discover how Indigenous and non- Indigenous artists have interpreted their sense of belonging on the land in Canada, and how it is exemplified in their artistic practices. This program will explore the artist's connection to land and invite students to consider their own contemporary, traditional and/or cultural connections of what land means to them. This session will include small guided activities, including sketching, to deepen ideas, and conversations. Discover the long and fascinating history of Canadian and Indigenous art from thousands of years ago until today, and explore how it is interrelated and how it tells our stories.
