This guided tour of the McMichael's artwork will offer participants a chance to discuss the importance of personal style, stylistic development, and choice of subject matter. Following the guided viewing, participants will be challenged to create an artwork, drawing inspiration from the iconic locales that inspired the Group of Seven a century ago. NULIA JUK (SEDN A) STORIES IN A RT with Winnipeg Art Gallery Nuliajuk, also known as Takannaaluk, and Sedna among other names, is an important being in Inuit stories and art. Hear some variations of her story from different regions of Nunavut, and explore examples of art that she is represented in this Virtual Tour. Students will also be guided to create their own drawing of Sedna, inspired by the artwork they viewed. M A K ING A FRIENDSHIP ROPE BR ACELET FROM CEDA R B A RK WITH A DE V IL'S CLUB BE A D with Todd G íihlgiigaa Join Todd G̱ íihlgiigaa in an exploration of one of the most ancient of Haida weaving skills: rope-making. This beginner- friendly, hands-on workshop, students will learn how to make rope from plants found in the land around us. Using cedar bark, and local plants, students will learn how to make your own twisted rope bracelet with a devil's club bead. INUIT POP A RT with Winnipeg Art Gallery Learn about some contemporary Inuit artists who are creating some amazing Pop Art. The students will be inspired to create their own Pop Art artwork.
