Sprout Ideas Fellowship 2017 W H A T TakingITGlobal (TIG) offered a 6-month Fellowship with support from the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Growth, for youth focused on social entrepreneurship and innovation. Youth Fellows were given the opportunity to develop and implement a business or project with a positive social impact objective. T H E F E L L O W S H I P I N C L U D E D : ● 4-week summer intensive (including workspace) ● Micro-grants of up to $2,000 ● Hands-on mentorship and bi-weekly events over 4 months ● Exclusive online community ● A culminating showcase in front of potential supporters to kick-start Fellows' social ventures Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation W H A T I S S O C I A L I N N O V A T I O N ? This is what the Social Innovation Generation, Canada, has to say about Social Innovation: Social innovation is about new ideas that work to address pressing unmet needs. Poverty, homelessness, violence are all examples of social problems that still need dedicated solution-seeking space. Social innovation addresses these challenges by applying new learning and strategies to solve these problems.
