Connecting Through the Arctic Winter Games Beyond the Classroom Stories of Connection In March 2026, members of the Connected North team travelled to Whitehorse, Yukon, as Arctic Supporters at the Arctic Winter Games. The event brought together youth, athletes, artists, Elders, educators, and community organizations from across the circumpolar North, creating opportunities to strengthen relationships and celebrate northern cultures. During the week, Connected North hosted a live virtual session that connected more than 10 schools with the Dene Hand Games, featured athlete stories, and explored the cultural significance of this traditional sport. The team also met with Indigenous artists, cultural organizations, and education partners, helping build new opportunities to bring northern voices and experiences into classrooms across Canada. The visit strengthened existing partnerships, fostered new relationships, and expanded opportunities for students to engage with Indigenous knowledge, Arctic cultures, and inspiring role models from across the North.
