Careers & Post-Secondary registered nurse working in her home region. Growing up in an isolated Inuit community, she recognized the need for more nurses. Her journey through school is inspiring, as she reached her goal of becoming an RN. In this session, Amber will share her path to nursing, discuss the importance of representation, and reflect on her experiences working during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amber-Joy Gruben, an Inuvialuit woman from Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, is a Pathways to Nursing Amber-Joy Gruben Just being present, showing up and being consistent has really helped me get to these levels of achievement that I never thought possible. Anthony will connect his story to the idea of perseverance, determination, and hard work. He will then move into a short workshop where students will have the chance to write and self- reflect on "The good, the bad, the ugly" traits. Anthony will guide students through this reflection and help them learn to move forward from negative experiences with a positive mindset. The session will conclude with a short intro to relevant resources (Futurepreneur, Pow Wow Pitch, etc.), followed by a chance for students to ask questions.
