In some nations, it's the Thunderbird who makes thunder and lightning. But in the far North where Loïk is from, thunder and lightning are rare - so the story is a little different. In this session, Loïk will share the story of a Giant, an enormous goose, and how one very loud mistake led to the thunder we hear today. Then, he'll work together with students to draw the landscape from this powerful story using pencil crayons. Come explore thunder in a new way through storytelling and art! Where Thunder Comes From - Innu Legend Loïk Raymond Loïk Raymond is a Two-Spirit Innu artist whose family is from the Dreamcatchers hold deep cultural significance, servings as symbols of Discovering the Truth About Dreamcatchers Bougie Birch protection, guidance, and good medicine. With the Seven Grandfather Teachings at its core, this session encourages students to reflect on values and the important of weaving tradition with intention. After some interactive storytelling by Bougie Birch founder Ashley Clark, students will learn how to make their own dreamcatcher step by step. Dreamcatchers often require high dexterity skills as the weaving can be complex, however this kit is designed to accommodate a variety of learners, featuring an engraved wooden ring with pre-cut holes for easier assembly.
