Nick Sikkuark: Humour and Horror ᓂᑯᓚ ᓯᑯᐊ. ᐃᒡᓚᕐᓇᖅᑐᑦ ᐊᒻᒪ ᑲᑉᐱᐊᓇᖅᑐᑦ National Gallery of Canada Check out Jason's Fireside Chat! I created art for as long as I can remember. But I've never really called myself an artist. Encounter Nick Sikkuark's creations through his intricate illustrations, literature, and sculptures, inspired by everyday elements, humor, horror, miniaturization, and amplification. An interpreter will guide you through his visual storytelling, where recurring creatures and iconography create a sense of anticipation. Expect to engage with the Inuktut language, as Sikkuark promoted Inuit literacy through illustrated books early in his career, adding depth to his artistic legacy. Stencil Stories: Printmaking Fun Jason Sikoak Join artist Jason Sikoak for a wonderful printmaking session, where they will carefully guide participants through the creation of stencils from parchment paper, using blank paper for printing, and experimenting with a selection of acrylic or tempera paints (you choose). Jason, an accomplished Inuit artist known for his intricate and culturally rich works, will also share their own artwork, offering inspiration and valuable insight into their creative process. Participants will learn the basics of printmaking and leave with their own unique artwork. 25 C O N N E C T E D N O R T H 2 0 2 4 - 2 0 2 5 S E S S I O N M E N U Vashti Etzel, a proud Shuhta and Kaska Dene member, hails from the Sahtu region of the Northwest Territories.
