Visual Arts 24 Painting Your Season with Inuit Artist Brian Kowichuk Brian Kowichuk, based in Inuvik, NT, was inspired early by his mother's floral drawings, sparking his artistic journey. Starting with portraits in high school, he explored mediums like charcoal, oils, watercolors, and digital painting before favoring acrylics. Kowichuk focuses on landscapes, inuksuit, moons, and birds like ravens and owls. He teaches local painting classes, sharing his techniques to help students capture northern landscapes and the essence of the season on canvas. She named the original scrunchies after Indigenous role models in her life, hoping to inspire others. What began as an idea has grown, now offering apparel, bags, and accessories.
