Reconnecting with Wiigwaasabak: Anishinaabe Birchbark Etching Helen Pelletier Join Helen Pelletier, a proud Anishinaabe artist from Fort William First Nation, for a virtual workshop where she will share her journey and the cultural significance of the birch tree in Anishinaabe culture. Helen will teach us about Wiigwaasabak, the tree of life, and guide us in making spirit baskets—a unique way to give thanks for food and blessings. Participants will craft their own spirit baskets and offer them back to the land in gratitude, connecting with Anishinaabe traditions in a meaningful way. Jasmyn Albert also offers Teepee Teachings. Star Blanket Teachings Jasmyn Albert Join Jasmyn for blanket teachings and explore the Plains Cree meaning behind the star blanket. In this interactive session, students will work together to create a star blanket that can be proudly displayed on a classroom bulletin board or design a pattern on an 11x17 paper. Suitable for all ages, the teachings become more detailed for older students. Teachers will receive a printable template for students to design individual stars, encouraging creativity and collaboration. Learn Around the World also offers Los Maya: A tour classic Maya cities and Templo Mayor: The Great Temple of the Aztec. This session can be a stand-alone experience or a continuation of our 'Asian Elephants' session. Through interactive discussions and Q&A, we'll explore one of our favourite forms of elephant tourism: paper making! So, put on your hiking boots, watch your step, and let's make some poo paper!
