Through Connected North, the Sioux North High School participated in a multi-session Mock Trial experience led by Level Justice. The first three preparatory sessions were virtual, and the experience culminated in Grade 11 and 12 students visiting the local courthouse to run their trial in front of a judge. The Connected North team was honoured to live stream the graduation of the Class of 2024 from Nunavut Sivuniksavut in Ottawa back to their home communities and schools across the Territory. The graduation ceremony featured Nunavut Premier Akeeagok and Deputy Premier and Minister of Education Pamela Gross. In January, we brought together students from across Connected North to meet with Canadian Astronaut Jeremy Hansen, slated to become the first Canadian to embark on a mission around the moon. He began by acknowledging the achievements of Indigenous explorers. "One important truth is that in your blood, your ancestry, are the greatest explorers on the planet." DIGITAL PLATFORM ENGAGEMENT The digital platform is an online tool that helps teachers and content providers search our catalogue, request and confirm bookings, and share program feedback. Generously funded by Scotiabank, and now in its third year of use, the digital platform continues to have new innovations and updates added, to ensure we are serving our community effectively and efficiently. A total of 41% of Connected North sessions were booked this school year using the platform. This is an increase from 32% last year. There are 2,396 unique and bookable Connected North sessions on the platform, meaning our team added 429 new sessions to the platform (and the program overall!) during the 2023-2024 school year. 9
