Eric Zheng Igloolik High School Igloolik, Nunavut Introduction A Deep, Diverse, Well-rounded, Nourishing, and Culturally Relevant Education for Social Studies and Art Students at Igloolik High School Hi/Ullaakkut! My name is Eric Zheng, and I teach Social Studies, Computers, and Media Arts for grades 10-12 at Igloolik High School in Igloolik, Nunavut, I have been teaching at Igloolik High School since the 2022–23 school year. Incorporating Connected North into the curriculum The Connected North has have been so helpful to my teaching this year and last. This has been my first year teaching and planning for an Art 10 and Media Arts 11/12 course. One way in which the Connected North team has aided in the planning and delivery of my classes was by meeting with me virtually at the beginning of the semester and examining the list of my units of study, including the principles of art, drawing and illustration, Inuit art, watercolour, art from around the world, and 3D art. From that list, our lead recommended and curated a fantastic collection of diverse content providers, including a wonderful selection of Indigenous and Inuit content providers, who have complemented my units of study well and have helped my students explore deeper into the themes, content, and skills of the class. This is all in addition to overcoming the logistical hurdles Connected North faced in planning the sessions around our school's dynamic rotating timetable.
