Memorable Mo ments We did a plant medicine session with our class where an artist shared how to use spruce pitch to make a medicinal salve. This session required me to take my class out to harvest the pitch prior to the session. Because I had never done this before, I talked to our school's First Nations language coordinator, and she supported our class in this harvesting. This provided the students with more genuine background knowledge on the topic. The rest of the materials for the pitch were sent to me directly, which was very helpful. The most memorable sessions I have done with Connected North have been art sessions. I teach a class where I program all subjects for my students, but have no art background or artistic abilities. Being able to conveniently bring artists to our class and provide the students with diverse art learning experiences has been highly beneficial for our class. This has included a Northern Lights watercolour painting workshop, a bag-weaving session and an Indigenous anime drawing session.
