Since introducing Connected North into my
classroom four years ago, it has become one
of the most valuable resources I've added. We
are located in rural Northwestern Ontario,
and have limited access to local and
economically feasible resources. Connected
North has allowed me to bring educational
presentations to my classroom, giving my
students a hands-on, engaging, and
curriculum-related experience that we would
otherwise not have had.
Introduction
One of the connections that Connected North
has been able to provide for me is access to
Indigenous presenters. While living and
learning on the traditional lands of Treaty 3,
our area does not have many Elders,
knowledge keepers, or Indigenous people who
feel they know enough to come to teach us
about traditional ways.
I have found Connected North to be my lifeline
to many Elders and knowledge keepers who
are more than willing to share their teachings
with us. For this I am thankful.
