I will try to integrate the knowledge my students learn in the Connected North sessions into my assessments, especially if it aligns effectively with what we are learning in class. Often the product they have created can be an assessment in and of itself as well. We do quite a bit of reflecting on our sessions and I will frequently ask what new information they learned, what they liked the best, what they would like to learn more about, and what wasn't for them. I have integrated mind-mapping strategies utilizing information from sessions and that has also worked well. I have found that when reflection is done right away after a session it is not necessarily as effective as a delayed reflection even for a couple of days. I find that after a bit of time has passed they have synthesized the information to the best of their ability and come back with some amazing next level questions and reflections that are quite amazing. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Connected North sessions. Occasionally there are some swings and misses but not many. At the mere mention of a Session, the students instantly ask what is it about and who is it from, and they will comment "Oh, I'm excited about that" or "I want to learn more about that." At the end of the day, that's pretty darn close to all you could ask for. It is awesome to be a part of such a global knowledge network.
