TRC 94 Calls to Action Truth and Reconciliation Commission TakingITGlobal's vision imagines young people actively engaged and connected in shaping a more peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable world. In the context of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, our organization has recognized the importance of raising awareness and understanding of colonization, its harmful impacts, and intergenerational trauma as a direct result of the legacy of the Residential School System and the Indian Act. Our role in co-designing and facilitating youth engagement programs is based on principles of respect, humility, relationship building, adapting expectations, empowerment through role models, and creating spaces to support growth and leadership opportunities through formal and informal learning and volunteerism. Our approach is focused on supporting youth voice and participation through youth-led action and providing tools and creative outlets for a shared vision and authentic artistic expression of unique experiences, realities, and hopes for the future. In reflecting on the TRC Calls to Action, our contribution to the work of reconciliation is based on principles of respect for one another and the land, along with mutual recognition and shared responsibility for maintaining healthy relationships into the future. The work of our organization is focused on building capacity for youth and educators in support of intercultural understanding, empathy, and community involvement in a way that supports well-being.
