2022
Your Voice is Power
A panel of expert judges selected our two winning student submissions who each
coded a song remix using the lyrics and beats from Jayli Wolf, Samian and Dakota Bear.
Bryce Watt from God's Lake Narrows First Nation (MB) and Miyuki Dryer from a
Francophone School in Toronto both received $5,000 scholarships towards their future
learning endeavours, along with a custom painted skateboard by Heiltsuk Artist KC Hall.
In October 2022, Christine M'Lot, our lead
curriculum developer (an Anishnaabe
Educator from Winnipeg) travelled to San
Juan, Puerto Rico to join the Society for
Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and
Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)
conference to speak about the program
as an example of STEM learning resources
co-created with under-represented
communities.
Science World in Vancouver, one of our
Connected North partners, also launched a
new Sacred Journeys exhibit which
included an interactive display about the
Your Voice is Power program.
