Findings The impact of youth receiving a laptop was evaluated in three categories: learning outcomes; experience of the program; and social connection/community involvement. First, we examined the extent to which receiving the laptop supported students' learning goals and academic achievement, including their motivation and ability to complete their postsecondary degree. Second, we asked students to rate their experience of participating in the program from application to device delivery. Lastly, we evaluated how students felt about their level of social connection and community involvement before and after receiving the grant. Below is a summary of the findings: Learning outcomes The grant had a positive impact on students' learning. Almost 86% of respondents said that receiving a Digital Inclusion Grant supported their learning a great deal, and when asked on a scale of 1 to 5 how much students felt the grant had supported their learning, 95% rated the impact of the grant at four or above. Moreover, 80% of respondents said the grant improved their ability to complete school work a great deal. 0 25 50 75 100 Rating ( 1 = not at all; 5 = a great deal ) 2 1 3 4 5 How much would you say receiving a Digital Inclusion Grant supported your learning? % Impact of Connected North's Digital Inclusion Grant on IndigenousStudents' Learning, Social Connection and Community Involvement 17
