"The Métis Sash Weaving was extremely
impactful as there were many Métis
students in my class, who had no idea
that sashes were meaningful, and the
reasons behind the colours, and the
stories and teachings that go along with
the sash weaving."
SESSION EXAMPLE:
Connie Kulhavy "Métis Sash and Teachings"
A 50 minute workshop on the history of the Sash and finger weaving methods used so students can
create a small friendship bracelet or a bookmark to take home.
TECHNOLOGY
SESSION EXAMPLE:
InkSmith "3D Printer 101"
Entry-level orientation on the device, its set-up and functionality.
Students learn all about 3D printing, what it is, and how it works.
SESSION EXAMPLE:
Matt Jeppesen "No-Computer Coding: Patterns and sequencing
through body movement"
Coding concepts are broken down into key ideas and then 'run' through our
body-computer. In this session, students use colours and Simon-says style
actions (or choreography for older students) to build a pattern and sequence
of movements and learn how computers read instructions.
SCIENCE, SPACE, ENGINEERING
"My students still say that the
dissection sessions with
Connected North were their
favourite days of the school
year."
