Your Voice is Power
In collaboration with Amazon, Georgia Tech, and
Pharrell Williams' philanthropic organization,
YELLOW, TakingITGlobal launched the Your
Voice is Power learning experience and coding
competition in Canada.
Canadian students learned entrepreneurship,
computer science, and social justice by remixing
Pharrell and Jay-Z's song, Entrepreneur, on the
EarSketch coding platform.
We awarded two $5,000 scholarships to
students with the most creative remixes,
receiving hundreds of submissions from
students and schools across Canada.
Looking forward to 2022, we are
collaborating with the Cloud Innovation
Centre at the University of British Columbia
and several Indigenous educators to develop
a new version of the program featuring
Indigenous artists. We are excited to work on
this unique approach to developing
computational thinking and music skills
while offering an opportunity for students to
reflect on Indigenous & Canadian histories.
