PROGRAM OVERVIEW Connected North connects students living in remote communities to virtual experiences and opportunities not available to them locally. Through this school-based education program, students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 can access learning opportunities through live and interactive video experiences. The program's commitment is to provide students and teachers with access to virtual content that is engaging and innovative, with the hope of increasing feelings of empowerment in school and in life. Sessions are requested directly by teachers and students, and are customized to fit their interests and learning goals. Indigenous youth are at the heart of the Connected North program, and our goal is to provide equitable access to content and resources that will enable these students to thrive. Connected North live video sessions include experiences like: ● Virtual field trips to museums, galleries, aquariums and more ● Role model mentoring to build hope and pride ● Sharing of cultural celebrations and language revitalization ● Exploring future pathways for education and careers ● Teacher professional development workshops and training Founded in 2013, Connected North now serves over 24,000 children and youth in 109 active schools located in 72 communities across Canada. Connected North wouldn't be possible without the large ecosystem of donors, partners and education authorities who enable program delivery. With their funding and support, we were able to respond to record levels of demand for the program during the 2020-2021 school year, and offer customized solutions for schools in the face of COVID-19 related closures. 4
