Technology - Among the sharing circles, the most common challenge discussed is that of the barriers students face in accessing functional WIFI. Some students are still working from parking lots and other public places in order to stay connected. There are also challenges in accessing adequate technology (for example, some students might need to share their laptops with their children who are also learning from home). Although students are given laptops, they might still demonstrate a need for other beneficial technology (such as a proper headset). Spaces - Whether at home or at a community hub, shared spaces might not be conducive to online learning if the student does not have a proper work station and where privacy is an issue. As some classrooms and lab spaces open up at the institution, Indigenous Services may remain closed. This is a substantial barrier for students who need to access the space for a multitude of reasons (for example, to smudge before an exam). Social Connection - Some students are expressing feelings of isolation and are missing peer interactions. Some seem to be struggling with staying mentally balanced as a result of this isolation as well as other challenges they are facing. Experienced by Indigenous Students Challenges and Barriers
