If you have toys or action figures, you can make a whole film just by using stop motion in your house. If you can paint, you can animate things. Stop Motion is: • a really easy way to make titles and to make any story you want come to life • a really fun way to animate things that otherwise wouldn't have had movement • As a process, long, but it can be fun • Therapeutic Basically this is the process: 1. Write a story or a script. 2. Use Muppets, stock characters or household objects. 3. Move the characters or objects around. 4. Edit out you moving them. Stop motion doesn't just have to be video, you can also do it in photos. What will you use to create your first stop motion video? LESSON 8: TIPS AND TRICKS This lesson is full of tips and tricks to help you make the best possible videos. LIGHTING Before you film, start by assessing the lighting: • How is it in the space you're in? • Would it be better if you were outside? • Would it be better if you were in the shade outside? • What kind of natural light can you get? Tips: Daylight is beautiful. Direct daylight can be harsh and aggressive with facial shadows. Doorways can provide great lighting for video because of the way light bounces on the subject's faces.
