J I M M Y B L A I S 20 LESSON 1: AUDITION PREP If you want to nail your audition, there are a few key things you are going to want to do. READ EVERYTHING: That includes: 1. The body of the email that you get with your audition requests. Pay attention to the audition date, audition time, location, and information about the character. 2. The sides. That's the script you're going to be using for the audition. 3. The Breakdown. That's the breakdown of your character: age, race, job, relationship details, as well as character traits. It will also include the name of the project and the name of the director. BE A DETECTIVE: Do your research. You really need to be a detective. 1. Use the info provided to connect the dots on what the casting director or producer are looking for 2. Check out the director's previous work, watch previous episodes or parts and try to get a feel for the project. It will help you understand what kind of mood or feeling the producers are gone for and the genre. READ THE SCRIPT... AGAIN AND AGAIN: Read the script as many times as you can. This will help you learn: 1. Your lines. 2. Your cues. 3. Stage directions. You will get a better sense of the action of the scene if you read the script thoroughly. Read dialogue that isn't part of your scene if you have access to it. Read the full script if it's publicly available so you have a big picture sense of the story and an ability to portray your character more sharply. You may get less information in movie or tv auditions but use what you get to your advantage. BE PREPARED. Get ready for your audition and make sure to:
