This will better allow the tannins in the tea to penetrate the skin. It is very important to make sure your skins only come into contact with cool water/tea. They will begin to disintegrate when submerged in warm/hot water. STEP FOUR: TANNING When your tea has cooled completely, transfer it to your glass jar and your skins are ready to go into the tea. Stir the tea often! Every time I walk by my jar I give it a stir, this will help to evenly tan the skins. The more they are agitated, the quicker they tan. Your tea can stay out and will not go bad because you will be changing it each day, keeping it in a cool place out of direct sunlight.
