56 Drama OTHER SESSION IDE A S: • Aesops Fables with The Actors Company • All about the Bard with The Actors Company • Creating Character with Arts Umbrella • Puppet Building 101 with Center for Puppetry Arts • Shakespeare's Ghost with The Actors Company • The Art of Pantomime with Kid's Travel with Joy SCRIPT WRITING A ND DIREC TING with The Actors Company Marisa Diamond, B.F.A., is a Mayan Q'eqchi/ Latinx teaching artist, actor, stage manager, director, filmmaker, designer, and circus performer. She is a proud union member of Actors' Equity and the Screen Actors Guild, and works in theatre, film/TV, and schools around the world. In a single- class session, teaching artist will discuss each of the elements with students, but there will not be time for "practice." TA I CHI FOR AC TORS with The Actors Company J.T. Turner is an actor, as well as a Tai Chi practitioner. Working with drama and performance students, this simple introductory class will teach the basics of breathing and simple movements that can help energize and focus you throughout the day. Students will learn strategies for working on stage. E XPLORING EMOTIONS with Arts Umbrella Arts Umbrella is a not-for-profit arts education centre based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Arts Umbrella is where young artists ages 2–22 cultivate their creativity in Dance, Theatre, and Art & Design. Navigating our interactions and learning to recognize emotions in ourselves and others can be a trying task. In this fun-filled, theatre-based workshop, students will develop their imaginations and explore the connection between physicality and emotion through movement and improvisation. CIRCUS AC TS A ND TRICK S with Diamond Family Circus Diamond Family Circus co-founders Marci Diamond, M.P.A. and Marisa Diamond, B.F.A., have travelled the world in person and virtually as professional circus performers and teaching artists. They are proud union members of Actors' Equity and the Screen Actors Guild, and work in theatre, film/TV, schools - and circuses! In this session, students will learn circus arts (poi, juggling, simple acro & physical comedy) with Marci and/or Marisa that they can practice safely in a classroom or at home, using their own amazing bodies and re-using commonly available materials.
