22 TIGed Partnerships Global Partners Junior http://www.tigurl.org/ar09gp Created to connect 9 middle schools from New York City with 14 others from around the world, New York City Global Partners enlisted the TIGed platform as the online toolset to link participating schools. The theme of "World Marketplace" encouraged students to view the global economy from local and global perspectives. Students use their own experiences to make their research and dialogue especially relevant to the media projects they worked on. Human Rights Friendly Schools http://www.tigurl.org/ar09friends We worked with the International Secretariat of Amnesty International to design and launch the website for its Human Rights Friendly Schools project—an initiative promoting global conversations within the sphere of transnational human rights. A coalition of schools from 14 countries, the project showcases the collaborative leadership of students in developing the culture of human rights, by integrating an approach centred around the pursuit of knowledge and cooperation. The journey of each school towards becoming more human rights-friendly is also documented through the website's online resources. Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) http://www.acel.org.au In September, TIG founders Michael Furdyk and Jennifer Corriero presented a lead paper at the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) conference at the Darwin center in Australia. The major professional association for educational leaders in Australia and beyond, ACEL's views are sought and respected by governments, policymakers, and teachers worldwide. Our ongoing partnership with ACEL lays the foundation to integrate TIGed into Australian schools over the next few years, an ongoing process that also includes strategies for increasing our outreach activities.
