76 " My wish for Canada's 150th anniversary is to move forward with open minds, access to open source research and shared knowledge. I am a strong believer in innovation and open sourced initiatives. I believe the key to advancing as a unified society is through knowledge and equal access to education. In my work I find that I am often using materials that are upcycled, recycled, repurposed or biodegradable. During my time at University I found myself holding on to so many old projects that no longer served me. I began creating work that I would recycle after it was exposed. I then moved on to work with biodegradable materials I was interested in letting go but also not leaving a trace. I believe Canada has unlimited sources of inspiration from the vast wilderness, bustling cities and natural resources. The more time goes by the more I admire The Canadian wilderness and I am grateful to reside in the larger than life Yukon Territory." Whether on a small wooded trail or deep in the rugged wilderness, there is always a scene so beautiful that it captivates me and inspires my next piece. I paint to remember the beauty of a place and to share that beauty and the feeling of contentment that I found there with others. For the Canada 150 piece I would like to paint a scene from Kluane National Park and Reserve depicting wilderness and its wildlife. My wish for Canada in the next 150 years is that protected areas remain intact and the native wildlife that live in these areas are still present and thriving, despite increased human population and its demands on our environment."
