Indigenous Role Models THE POWER OF POW-WOW with Casey Desjarlais In this session I would like to start with my personal experience with Pow-Wow dancing and the healing power within our cultural tools. It's important for our youth to know the significance of dancing and the songs that we sing during a Pow-Wow, each song has a story to tell. Within my session I will go over my regalia and the process behind making your own personal regalia. Many youth do not know that Pow- Wow can also be a sport, entering in competitions can lead to cash prizes and travelling to events. The experience as a whole as helped me personally through a lot of hard times, looking to my culture for guidance has contributed to my strength and character, and I hope it can do the same for others as it did for me.
