Science UP CLOSE AND PALEO JUNIOR with The Royal Tyrrell Museum Are your students excited about leaning all they can about dinosaurs? This exciting program begins with an introduction to the science of palaeontology, followed by a brief tour of the museum and examinations of actual fossils. Students will then ask their questions, and the educator's response may include supplemental multimedia (i.e. video, animation, images and fossils). http://www.tigurl.org/up-paleo SHARKS ALIVE with The Mote Marine Laboratory Aquarium The program is a live, two-way interactive program focused on shark research at The Mote Marine Laboratory. One of these is not an insect. Do you know what characteristics of insects are? We'll explore different habitats including leaf litter, aquatic and grass fields to discover a variety of insects (and non-insects) and their adaptations. What's their connection to plants? With the help of Pierre, my Praying Mantis puppet, and the poetry of Douglas Florian, we'll discover the answers. E AT OR BE E ATEN with The Alaska SeaLife Centre Every day in Alaska animals face the struggle to eat and survive. Students will learn about food webs and eating adaptations associated with some Alaskan animal species. We will create our own food web and observe different "links" in the feeding chain that connect the ocean to the forest. http://www.tigurl.org/eatoreaten OTHER SESSION IDE A S: Discovering Dinos with The Royal Tyrrell Museum Sports Medicine Cadaver Demonstration with Ray Volmer from St. Louis University Life Cycle of a Butterfly with The Centre for Puppetry Arts Spooky Spiders with The Centre for Puppetry Arts Squid Dissection with The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammals with The Alaska SeaLife Centre Surviving Earth's Biomes with The Texas State Aquarium West Coast-Best Coast with The Vancouver Aquarium Welcome to the Marine Jungle with The Vancouver Aquarium Discover the World of Coral Reefs with The Vancouver Aquarium Structures and Mechanisms with The Ontario Science Centre Energy and Matter with The Ontario Science Centre Shapes and Senses with The University of Alberta Boats and Buoyancy with The University of Alberta Structures and Design with The University of Alberta
