Alice Y. S. Li, Saskatchewan Fumble Free First Aid Kit Traditional first aid kits can be messy or difficult to use – especially in moments of crisis. The Fumble-Free First Aid Kit is meant to be trauma-ready, intuitive and organized so that it can be used by anyone, regardless of their medical knowledge, language or ability. During the course of the Sprout Ideas Fellowship, Alice and her team developed a prototype, organized compartments and created visual guides. These kits were shared with others to gather feedback for improvement. Their final kits included clearly labelled and colour-coded compartments that contained injury-specific materials, so that users could act without hesitation. In the future, Alice hopes to keep learning about human-centred design to develop more practical tools that reduce barriers for people, particularly for those living in rural communities or under-resourced areas. They are partnering with Alliance North to further test their first aid kit in real-world conditions. The funding and mentor support from the Fellowship allowed us to move from concept to prototype development and real-world piloting and testing. Our team developed practical skills in prototyping, stakeholder partnership management, and how to rapidly iterate a product based on real-world feedback. HOUSING & SAFETY
