R. Adeboye, C. Flewelling,V. Ogbole, E. O'Sullivan 69 themselves gained new knowledge and skills, and the positive effect this had on their well-being. The teacher survey, which included a specific question on how Connected North had supported their professional development, provided a large (98% positive) number of responses that reinforced this general idea of Connected North making teachers feel supported, as well as providing additional examples of how, including by combatting feelings of isolation. For example, one teacher commented that "You can often feel isolated as a classroom teacher. Knowing that there is a whole team [of] people eager to help you access meaningful and creative programming is wonderful!" Other comments highlighted the value of the Professional Development opportunities offered by Connected North. Additionally, 90% of surveyed teachers agreed that Connected North has made them feel "more confidence in using technology as an innovative learning tool," providing mild additional evidence that the program has contributed to overall teacher confidence. Short-Term Outcome #6: Improved Cultural Competencies Among Teachers There is moderate evidence that Connected North contributes to improved cultural competencies among teachers, with a modest number of surveyed teachers describing gaining knowledge and community, while interviewed teachers focused on the importance of having Indigenous people deliver Indigenous cultural content. In interviews, a few teachers described specific ways in which Connected North had helped improve their cultural competency. For example, one teacher described professional development sessions that supported their understanding of how their standard professional practices – such as goal-setting – can be made more culturally relevant for Indigenous students. More frequently, though, as mentioned in a previous section, teachers valued Connected North for allowing them to meet their students' cultural needs without engaging in cultural appropriation. The relief teachers felt in being able to rely on authentic Indigenous voices to deliver cultural content was seen in interviews and surveys. As one interviewee stated, "It was third year for me using [Connected North] for my [Professional Development] week, and I have to say that it improves every year." -Teacher Survey Respondent
