R. Adeboye, C. Flewelling,V. Ogbole, E. O'Sullivan 61 advice to teachers, was published in 2024 and is therefore a relatively new resource that may not yet have reached all teachers. During interviews, teachers also described how they supported each other's use of the program and suggested that increased opportunities for peer-to-peer sharing could help teachers optimize their experiences with Connected North. Specific ideas included integrating teacher reviews with tips and advice into the online session menu, and pairing more experienced schools with new users to share best practices. Implementation Assumption #8: Participants have access to appropriate teleconferencing technology and reliable internet connectivity Staff and Content Providers described a range of technological challenges and irritants, highlighting the key role Connected North plays in providing guidance on hardware procurement, and assistance when glitches occur. Perhaps because of their less frequent exposure to sessions, or because they are accustomed to the technical challenges in these specific schools, interviewed teachers generally viewed their technology as adequate and the challenges manageable. According to their descriptions, however, their teleconferencing setups varied widely, and it was clear that classroom technology has the potential to influence the session experience. Connected North Staff Connected North staff emphasized that teachers' access to reliable teleconferencing technology is essential for delivering sessions as intended. Staff highlighted that the Cisco telepresence unit is the "optimized method of connection." While they expressed some concern for their continuing ability to provide effective technical support as the range of different and unfamiliar types of systems continues to expand, they respected and acknowledged the differences among schools, and worked with teachers to mitigate risks in advance and help resolve various audio, video, and bandwidth challenges when they arose. Content Providers In interviews, Content Providers generally felt that classroom technology supported sessions to run smoothly: "For the most part, the technology works well. It lets me show visuals, demonstrate techniques, and interact with the students; it does what I need it to do." They noted, however, that there was variability, expressing appreciation for the support of Connected North staff, while acknowledging the continuing infrastructure limitations in some schools. One explained: "Sometimes the internet lags or the screen freezes… you just have to pause and wait. It's nobody's fault; it's just the infrastructure in some northern schools." Another Content Provider "[Connected North staff] always check in beforehand… they make sure everything is set up and working, and they stay during the session in case anything goes wrong." -Content Provider Interviewee Moderate Positive Sentiment Moderate Volume of Relevant Evidence L L M Evidence Base M Content Provider Interviews Connected North Staff Interviews Teacher Interviews
