Social Studies & Indigenous Studies Hello! My name is Sophie Tremblay, I am a proud Métis student with Métis Fingerweaving Sophie Tremblay four years of experience facilitating cultural workshops. In this session, participants will explore the rich history and cultural significance of Métis fingerweaving. Through hands-on activities, they will have the opportunity to create their own woven designs, experiencing the craftsmanship and tradition behind this unique art form. are the first to do something – innovators who often faced challenges in order to get to where they needed to go. The Hockey Hall of Fame will discuss the people who refused to quit, including the goalie who wore a mask to protect his face while playing, a girl who cut her hair and changed her name so she could play hockey, a woman who wrote a book and never quit, even though many people rejected her, and is now one of the wealthiest people in the world, the first Indigenous players to play in the NHL, and a young man with one leg who planned to run across Canada. Artifacts, photographs and stories from the Hockey Hall of Fame will be used in this program to show how groundbreakers used their vision and perseverance to open doors for others to follow.
