Students will explore real-world money concepts by identifying the

value of coins and bills, representing amounts in multiple ways, and practicing
addition and subtraction with prices. They'll take on budgeting challenges, make
purchases within a set amount, and for older students, calculate taxes.
Throughout the session, students will also learn to evaluate the reasonability of
prices and unit rates, building practical math skills they can apply in everyday life.
Indigenous youth. The program combines Indigenous Elders speaking about their
experiences with money, with facilitator-led activities about money that are relevant
to youth. This chapter providers an overview of the different types of goals (long-
term, short-term, immediate) and the SMART method for goal setting. Students will
learn how to prioritize, how to use the Medicine Wheel, and will also create a
problem-solving plan in 5 steps. Available in English, Cree, Oji-Cree, and Ojibwe.
